Master pages background color--how to hide?

i'm putting photo book. i'd have black background on pages. know how set pages there's black background on master pages, but:

 

1. there way hide background while i'm drawing photo , text boxes; and/or

2. there better way set backgrounds?

 

in other words, what's easiest way set up? i'd able turn background on , off can see how project looking. mean layer, don't know how put background master pages on layer, or if possible.

layers document-wide. make lower layer, , show on master page. put background on layer, , lock layer prevent accidentally putting other things on it. can turn layer off layers pallet, not matter page on, on layer (including master items) turn off.

Why is os_ViewContainer running?

when open illustrator (cc) opens window os_viewcontainer cannot view or close. shows in taskbar second window illustrator when mousing on ai icon. have tried select no luck. have tried clear using red x, no luck. close when close illustrator. wondering why there , if should concerned. oh, running windows 10. hi ccsachs,   as per query when launch illustrator opens " os_viewcontainer "   i request please share screenshots along below-mentioned details:   exact version of illustrator  graphic card using , when updated last time how performs in safe mode? Animate - problem with duplicating scripts after loop
