Elements 14 deleting pictures from layers

hey everyone!

 

i have problem in adobe ps elements 14 needs urgent help. little long, because it's problem never had , never heard of , want thorough in retelling did prior issue. let noted tat happened litterally between 2 strokes.

 

i have been working on multilayer thing, picture layers , fill layers, masks, etc. going fine, 75% done. editing 1 of pictures, deleting parts of didn't need, using quick selection + del way. worked beautifully. wanted use magic eraser rid of edges remain after that, know mean. thin lines on edge of picture. found out magic eraser works wonders on them. used on picture layer in doc, in same edit , worked without problems. try use time, cuts frame out of middle of picture. undo, try again, same thing. try couple of more times, doesn't work. undo until hit layer working on (fill layer). decide differently , use bg eraser. works, go quick selection again, select parts (because want widen eraser, able 1 click), quick selection won't select properly. won't select entire color (like did before), won't go behind points in picture, no matter how click. fine. undo quick selection , decide hard way. remember, eraser worked half minute before did this. time, background eraser won't go behind points in image either. nothing selected. checked. thrice.

 

i fed up. delete layer , try insert picture again, same way did before, same way inserted picture , rest of pictures in document. drag said picture folder photoshop, ctrl+a, ctrl+c in new tab, ctrl+v document. copies selection, not picture. delete layer, try again. same thing. okay. think myself, maybe edit picture first, copy then, maybe work. copy background layer, because wanna erase it, clear background. layer copied, erase background, picture's gone. interestingly enough, in layer thumb, ther picture still shows. nevermind. close tab, don't save, go again. same thing. close, don't save, open. tell myself, okay, let's not copy bg, let's try renaming , edit directly. , picture dissapears again. thumb still showing it. close tab, no saving. @ point, i'm pretty out of ideas.

 

i check document working on. pictures , layers , fills , masks showing properly.

 

so tell myself, okay. let's try close , restart it. maybe it's bug , go away.

 

so close , time save, because don't want lose work. open again. pictures (but one) gone. else still there. gradients, masks, fills, picture layers themselves, except pictures. let me give screen.

 

 

i had update prior opening it, have been working while in doc, before happened. running on windows 10, had clean installation week, because of system errors, if important, upon reinstalled ps. 9 months prior system errors, had no issues pse 14. no, don't use cloud. can't think of else. help?

 

edit: appears bug in specific document, because when open brand new psd file, works properly. please, help. spent lot of time on it, don't want lose it
