Select and Mask CC2015.5.1 Problems

i'm on recent imac, el capitan, using cc2015.5.1 , cannot make select , mask work @ all.

 

i make selection usual , click select , mask. proper screen comes , can change sliders, new additional selection tools on left don't @ all.  , when choose output, i'm returned image, nothing else happens @ all.  output selection returns me image, no selection.  output new layer mask gives me copy of image white layer mask - if had made no selection @ all. saw minor update -  2015.5.1 -  had been released fixed bugs, did nothing @ me. i've looked through preferences see if there needs turned on (or off) , reset tool.

 

any clue happening?

i'd shut down computer , start on again.

Why is os_ViewContainer running?

when open illustrator (cc) opens window os_viewcontainer cannot view or close. shows in taskbar second window illustrator when mousing on ai icon. have tried select no luck. have tried clear using red x, no luck. close when close illustrator. wondering why there , if should concerned. oh, running windows 10. hi ccsachs,   as per query when launch illustrator opens " os_viewcontainer "   i request please share screenshots along below-mentioned details:   exact version of illustrator  graphic card using , when updated last time how performs in safe mode? Animate - problem with duplicating scripts after loop
