How do I start freelancing?
hi guys,
i'm trying out freelancing. i've got profiles on people per hour , freelancer , apply (or 'bid' call it) jobs, it's beginning feel house hunting (i'm searching new place). had never been taken job on these websites, i'm not sure how time-wise— there clients not in rush jobs done? how approach being freelancer on these sites, best if on many of them (the ones) possible? if though, isn't lot of juggling?
even though have been bidding jobs, i'm not landing any. i'm not fussed on getting paid lot, decently do. main focus start actively designing again , getting paid. i've thought of going around independent shops in area , passing them card , cv, i'm sure they'd need design work done time-to-time.
the position i'm in i've not held full-time design job on year (for, reasons), , recent job i've done wedding collaterals couple months back. had been in-house designer travel agency , bars , restaurant. i've had experience things social network visuals, flyers, posters, banners, menus, presentations , things of sort, , comfortable photoshop , illustrator.
i'm aware i've got humble skill-set, enjoy working on these things given enough creative freedom. enjoy exploring how make , exciting viewed simple , boring. little wins, call them.
my question is, how start freelancing thing? how find clients hire me?
i'm leaving portfolio here reference skill level: behance
any advise appreciated~!
welcome freelance hell!
i of clients word-of-mouth client referrals, former clients come me & social/community contacts.
getting started , making name biggest hurdle. have physically go knocking on brick & mortar doors things rolling. try reaching out non-profit charities, churches, hospitals, etc... they're happy have skilled -- providing don't charge them lot of money. these small jobs can lead bigger & better things later.
don't discouraged. we've been there.
