Selecting, Copying, and Pasting Layer Masks

hello,

i beginner when comes photoshop, vocabulary may little off. i'll try best explain situation. let me know if not making sense or if need more details.

 

i having troubles using mask create selection can use copy/paste background image psd. have isolated part of image want select using layer mask, when attempt copy/paste psd, image appears "shadow" or black silhouette i've used allow background image original psd through mask.

 

it makes sense happening since selecting mask black outline of image wanted shown through second layer. saw on tutorial able "turn mask selection appear around mask can cut out object , paste different background."

to load  mask selection:

hold down ctrl key , click on mask, selection loaded ,

then click on layer's thumbnail (  not on mask ) and copy or cut layer other destination

Why is os_ViewContainer running?

when open illustrator (cc) opens window os_viewcontainer cannot view or close. shows in taskbar second window illustrator when mousing on ai icon. have tried select no luck. have tried clear using red x, no luck. close when close illustrator. wondering why there , if should concerned. oh, running windows 10. hi ccsachs,   as per query when launch illustrator opens " os_viewcontainer "   i request please share screenshots along below-mentioned details:   exact version of illustrator  graphic card using , when updated last time how performs in safe mode? Animate - problem with duplicating scripts after loop
