Scale to Frame Size is evil, or: conforming low-rez proxies
a little background:
in premiere, of motion parameters based off source clip, not all. example, position parameter tied timeline resolution, while anchor point , scale tied clip resolution. example, if had clip animated position keyframes, swap different-rez version , fine, anchor point , scale values off. conversely, if needed change sequence resolution, scale , anchor point off.
compare behavior avid, parameters resolution-agnostic , tied timeline (which has pros , cons).
today's quandary:
i'm conforming 1080p project, 1080p proxies original uhd camera footage. proxies generated externally, not new 2015.3 workflow.
there's bunch of ken burns-style punch-ins, nests.
i find myself having to:
- adjust scale parameters manually, 1 keyframe @ time. (for example, conform 100% 110% zoom 50% 55%.)
- modify every nest's sequence settings uhd. (thankfully, position parameters seem automatically scale)
(i can't wholesale paste attributes because resetting scale overwrite punch-ins.)
1. there better way this, @ point? seems new proxy workflow automagically scales parameters between low-rez proxies , full-rez counterparts, routinely deal pre-existing cuts. besides, it's important me understand every nook , cranny in premiere.
2. thought scale frame size solve issue, pinning parameters timeline's frame. looks works, actually, on 100% gets softened if resolution gone. uhd footage not behaves hd in motion parameters, it's treated hd , you're square one.
steps reproduce:
- cut uhd clip 1080p sequence twice.
- leave 1 clip @ "real" 100%, , enable scale frame size on other, scaling 200%.
- they should both identical, second clip softer.
if scale frame size can't task, for?
3. have seen blog entries (such kevin monahan or other gurus) address , explain topic in depth?
try set frame size in stead of scale frame size.
set frame size make image fit stay @ original size opposite scale frame size set 100%.
