Track Changes in InDesign


we handed on project translation company. came , stated track changes turned on , accepted changes.

what don't understand never turned on track changes or use in our daily work. track changes turned on automatically every time open job? on creative cloud teams , have latest version installed.

 

we ran issues file , had duplicate file , turn off track changes first accepted changes. showed me no users making changes or listed yet on translator's side, text, charts, , images missing or wrong text inserted. befuddled this!

 

so track changes automatically turned on every time open file? if so, there way permanently shut off?

track changes not turned on automatically when open file. it's multi-step process (shown below). must (1) click in story , either choose top left icon, or choose track changes in current story. once have done that, make changes in other stories must same other stories or choose enable tracking in stories panel menu.

(2) need name user in file > user, , pick markup color. you'll see markup in story editor:

so it's mystery how done automatically.
