Some imported photos not appearing in Catalog

i wanted transfer photos pc's internal drive nas , start using lr , catalog on mac.  so, copied of photos pc external drive (using windows explorer/file manager) brought on mac , used lr on mac import external drive nas (wd cloud).  chose "copy" option , not bring in duplicates.  took hours import ~48,000 photos appeared go well.  neatly transferred lr onto new folder on nas, subfolders date.

 

it looked great , thought when decided find 1 of favorite old pictures.  not in catalog in finder found on nas expected.  so, lr did copy file onto nas, reason didn't add catalog.  looking further @ particular folder, saw there ~305 images on nas drive 258 in lr apparently 50 items folder transferred not put lr.  checked couple of nearby folders , saw several of them had missing images while others did not.

 

i tried import again, time using "add" rather "copy" nas drive , avoiding duplicates.  hoping bring lr photos copied on nas not brought lr.  lr identified 571 photos , appeared import them correctly time.  guess 571 missed out of ~48,000 isn't terrible ratio, happened include favorites , missed photos should cause concern.

 

it disconcerting because if hadn't happened random favorite file in catalog, wouldn't have known wasn't there.  there reason lr "import" copying destination folder not import catalog?  there way identify photos skipped (other attempting reimport did)?

 

also, since don't know sure if indeed of images copied external drive nas, how can double check.  thought looking @ file count, wouldn't take account duplicates might not have been imported.

 

if have to, i'm open deleting files off nas, deleting catalog, , starting import on scratch if there's should differently next time.

 

i'm using current version of lr cc,  2015.7.

i can think of 2 possible reasons (and there may others) photos not imported in situation

  1. the photo duplicate
  2. the photo not recognized file type

 

how can identify skipped photos? obvious (but tedious) way compare number of files imported in each folder in lightroom number of photos in same folder in operating system. not aware of automated way this.

Why is os_ViewContainer running?

when open illustrator (cc) opens window os_viewcontainer cannot view or close. shows in taskbar second window illustrator when mousing on ai icon. have tried select no luck. have tried clear using red x, no luck. close when close illustrator. wondering why there , if should concerned. oh, running windows 10. hi ccsachs,   as per query when launch illustrator opens " os_viewcontainer "   i request please share screenshots along below-mentioned details:   exact version of illustrator  graphic card using , when updated last time how performs in safe mode? Sudden Missing Sequence Presets

can tell me why cannot open of premiere saves? when try open them, following message: "this project contained sequence not opened. no sequence preview preset file or codec associated sequence type." archived projects last year won't open, , neither current projects. googled problem , came across few solutions, involving downloading pc files someone's private server. can't because 1) i'm on government device, , 2) device mac.   does in way connect fact i'm using enterprise version has never been updated since installed last september– not once– local administrator?   [moved generic cloud/setup forum specific program forum... mod] error: sequence not opened More discussions in Premiere Pro CC adobe
